How to Screenshot Facebook Story?

Well, the first question that arises in our mind is can we screenshot Facebook stories? And the answer is quite simple i.e. Yes you can screenshot Facebook story. Follow the simple guide given below to take screenshots on your devices.

1. On Android

In the majority of Android mobiles, you can take a screenshot of Facebook Story by simply pressing the power button and volume down button at once. Just after that, you will get a screenshot of your mobile screen.

2. On iOS Devices

In iOS devices to take a screenshot of Facebook Story you will need to press the home button and the power button simultaneously. Once you do so the screenshot of the Facebook story will be taken.

3. On Windows Computers

To capture a screenshot of Facebook Story on a computer the handiest method is by using keyboard shortcuts. The first step is to press the “PrtScn” key on your keyboards which will record the current screen spontaneously. Then for the next step, you will have to open ‘Paint’ and then press ‘Ctrl+V’ to paste the captured screenshot and finally save the screenshot in the format you want.

The screenshot will be taken only from the visible screen and not the full web page. Also, you cannot take screenshots of only a particular area of the screen, but there is always a solution to every problem. You can crop the image in Paint to get a screenshot of a particular area.

4. Mac

If you want to take a screenshot of Facebook Story in Mac then you can do so by either pressing these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 3 keys or you can also use Webpage Screenshot Capture. Webpage Screenshot Capture does not need to be installed, you just need to copy the URL of the Facebook web page you want the screenshot of and then paste this URL in the “Enter the URL to capture” box. Then choose the format of your screenshot and click the capture web page. A screenshot of the given URL web page will be taken.

Does Facebook Notify When You Take a Screenshot?

As you may know that some social media apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, etc. send notifications to the person whose story’s screenshot you have taken. Though Facebook gives very much importance to the privacy and security of its users still it does not have the feature of sending a notification if someone takes a screenshot of your Facebook story or vice versa.

Even though new updates are coming regularly but this feature still has not been introduced. So you can take screenshots by using any of the above-mentioned methods without worrying about the story’s author being notified.

1. Will Facebook Notify You If Download a Picture?

No, if you download a picture from Facebook it will not inform the owner of the picture similar to how no notification is sent on Instagram when you screenshot someone’s post. So if you have heard any controversies regarding this you can be certain that no notification will be sent by Facebook.

There is just one point you should pay heed to, the account of which you want to download the photo must be public and not a private one. In case the account is private you may not get any option to download the photo.

2. Will Facebook Send a Notification if you Screen Record a Story?

Well, Facebook is one of the oldest social media platforms that has progressed in some areas much more than other social media apps.

Now, Facebook has an inbuilt feature of screen recording. It has incorporated the screen recording feature of iOS into its platform and hence allows you to screen record and screen broadcast without using your device’s screen record feature.

Now coming to the question, whether Facebook notifies on-screen recording a story or not. Well, it doesn’t, just like in the above-mentioned scenarios Facebook does not prompt other people if you screen record their story.

Facebook Screenshot Security Policy

Since Facebook does not have any screenshot notification feature it does make it a little unsafe for the users. But it has many security features which you can apply to your profile and make it safe to enjoy Facebook.

1. Facebook Profile Picture Guard

There is a newly added feature of Facebook Profile Picture Guard. It disables the option to share or download your profile picture and restricts people other than your friends from tagging in your profile picture. A shield icon appears once you enable this guard, preventing other people from intruding on your privacy.

To enable Facebook Profile Picture Guard follow the below-given procedure:

First, Click on the Profile Tab on your Facebook home page. Second, Click on your profile picture and select the option to “Turn on the Profile Picture Guard”. Third, click on the Next option and finally click on Save.

2. Restriction of Images and Videos Visibility

For increasing security on your posts and videos, you can alter the settings of every photo and video and make it only visible to your “Friends” rather than to the Public. This way you will block unknown people from viewing your posts. You can also alter your settings to make your posts visible to only a special group of friends whom you trust.

You can apply these settings to your Facebook stories also making them more safe and secure and restricting the possibility of unknown people viewing your story and taking screenshots.

Final Words

So now we are clear that Facebook does not notify the person whose story’s the screenshot you have taken or whose story you have screen recorded. Hence you can freely take a screenshot or screen record the story of any public account you want.

You can also download photos from Facebook without worrying about the person being informed about them. Also, we provided you with some security measures you can apply to make your profile picture and posts much safer. So we hope this article was helpful to you.
